Recap: Fort Myers VS Bradentucky Bombers Bout on April 20th

This was a rematch of a bout hosted by Bradentucky just 4 weeks earlier with the Bombers losing in an overtime jam. The Bombers had held the lead until the Palm City Punishers tied it up in the last couple of jams. The Bradentuckians were disappointed with the loss and it would be interesting to see how they handled it over the next month.

The night of the bout was filled with anticipation and a little disappointment. Both teams were missing major players. The Palm City Punishers team was missing their top echelon jammer, Kim Bong due to a broken bone, and key skater Doll Face Kill Her, while the Bombers were missing three starters due to vacation, injury, and a discipline issue. Both teams had a large following of fans which added to the excitement of this rematch.

The first period opened with Fort Myers blanking the Bombers 3-0 in the first jam. It looked like the Fort Myers team was going to attack the Bomber jammers as they knocked down GiGi RaMoan three times in the first jam. The Bombers regrouped and scored 5-0, 4-0, 4-0 the next three jams to take a 13-3 lead. At this point both teams got into their rhythms and the hitting got vicious. Defense was on both teams' minds, because only 4 points were scored over the next 3 jams, all by the Fort Myers team. The Bombers were trying to figure out how to get their jammers by Mess You Up Buttercup, who was a major deterrent to the Bomber jammers early. This made the match 13-11 Bombers. The Bombers took a time out and were reminded of their strategy. After the Bomber's coach had a discussion with his team and the referees, the girls woke up. The Bombers ripped off 19 points to the Punishers 0 and took a 32 to 11 lead. GiGi Ramoan led this attack with a 10 point jam led by Poison Apple's destructive blocking as pivot. The Punisher's Flying Da Brie helped turn the tide with a bout stopping hit on Bomber Jammer Vixen Da Crusher. It ended Vixen's night with a concussion and the Punishers rallied with 8 points to close on the Bombers 35-19.

Velvet Revolver led the Punishers with 7 points.

The second period opened with a 43 point explosion by the Bombers in the first 7 jams. Yakuza Girl led it with 17 points in two jams. The Punisher's Mrs. Slambags battled as blocker and jammer to get her team back in the game, but two sets of Bomber blockers where relentless. The tandem blockers of Busty Bruiser/Poison Apple and Snow wipe you out/LuLu Larue held the Punishers to 4 points in the first four jams. Dixie Wrangler and Gun-Toting Tina stepped up and proved that they belonged on the Bomber travel team by making key blocks in the latter part of round two when the Fort Myers team tried to make a come back. The Bombers closed out the final 4 jams scoring 20 points to the Punishers 8.

While it seemed that the Bombers were on their way to their first victory, the comeback from the last bout with the Punishers was still on the coach's mind. The Punisher's Flyin da Brie reminded the coach and his Bombers that there was time left with a nasty check on jammer Poison Apple in the first jam. While it knocked Apple several feet off the track surface, she remained upright and still managed to score three points. The next two jams saw the Bomber jammers execute awesome performances. Smashley Whiplash had been held to 5 points for the whole night until jam number 2 of the third period when she was able to capitalize with her speed and she scored 11 points in 1 minute and 31 seconds and looked to be flying instead of skating. This was followed by Mission Mary Position's amazing one-footed pass of two Punisher blockers on the inside, scoring herself 7 points in the process. Poison Apple looked at her teamates and said, "Wow that was awesome!" This put the Bombers in the lead 119 to 66 and the coach slowed everything down to ride in for the victory.

This is definitely a flourishing sister-like rivalry and both teams should be happy with their performances over the last month. The Fort Myers team was very hospitable to the visiting Bombers. The Fort Myers team is a class act and the Bombers appreciate them
